The monthly variation in numbers of Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, an alleged source of house‐dust allergen, was followed for 12 months in Brisbane. Numbers rose sharply in spring to a summer peak, and fell during autumn to a winter low. This does not coincide with the incidence of asthma in Brisbane, which is low in summer and maximal in autumn.
