A commercially available radiotelemetry system, designed to record the adult ECG in a wide range of situations, was found to operate satisfactorily for the fœtal ECG recorded from the fœtal scalp. When this system was compared with the conventional “hardwire” system commonly used to record the fœtal heart rate, extraneous noise and artefact were seen less frequently. The lower cost and accurate performance of the telemetry system used provide the obstetrician with an alternative to the more costly conventional equipment.
