The clinical course of tumours of the tapetum of the corpus callosum is illustrated by two cases in which the tumours were similar in site and in being of low‐grade histological malignancy. The untreated patient died after three months; in the second case, where natural communication was established between the tumour bed and the ventricular and subarachnoid spaces, followed by deep X‐ray therapy, the patient survived usefully for a further five years. Death was not due to recurrent tumour growth, but to pulmonary embolism after ventriculo‐atrial shunting. The advantage of this surgical approach is discussed.
