A case of procainamide–induced lupus–like syndrome is reported, and the clinical manifestations are outlined. The frequency of induction of antinuclear antibodies in patients on long–term procainamide therapy is emphasized. Procainamide should be used only for short–term anti–arrhythmic therapy, or, if it is employed for long–term therapy, frequent estimations of antinuclear factor should be carried out.
