A case of infection of the soft tissues of the ankle by a Runyon Group II atypical mycobacterium (scotochromogen) is reported. The patient, a girl aged 15 years, had a history typical of mycobacteriosis of soft tissue, joint or tendon; that is, the infection developed in an area where therapeutic injections for another, poorly defined, disease had been given. Other manifestations of scotochromogen disease found in the literature are mentioned.
