Sensitivities of salmonella and shigella organisms collected over a period of four to five years at the Commonwealth Serum Laboratories Research Unit were determined for a range of antibacterial agents. Instances of resistance were found in both groups of organisms, and the existence of multiple drug resistance In the salmonellas is reported for the first time in New Guinea.
