A brief review of the literature on microvascular surgery is presented, and a technique of micro‐vascular repair of vessels approximately 1 mm in diameter is described. One hundred per cent patency has been obtained at operation in the arteries and 93% in the veins. Secondary patency rates were achieved at intervals varying from one to 16 weeks after operation in 81% of arteries and 90% of veins. The factors influencing patency rate are discussed.
