The development of a new light‐weight binocular Indirect ophthalmoscope is described which may be worn as a pair of spectacles. A brief history of the evolution of ophthalmoscopy is given, leading to the present development. The construction of this new instrument was based on economy and simplicity, and the instrument achieves compactness and versatility with a light source functioning as an operating light by means of a beam‐splitting device. An aluminium adjuster bar may be fitted to the lamp house, permitting the surgeon to alter the position of the light itself.
