Illness resulting from the recent tropical cyclone in North Queensland is reviewed. It is seen that the major problem in this instance was not the life‐threatening injuries, but the multiple severe infections which followed the cyclone. Fatalities were comparatively few considering the violence of the disturbance. It seems likely that the liberal use of antibiotics and supportive measures minimized lasting damage to health.
