1. Histamine is released by the dog liver injected intraportally with alcohol. 2. Histological changes are evident in dog liver from one day after the injection and ingestion of considerable amounts of alcohol. 3. Histamine is not released by cat liver, and histological changes after alcohol are less evident than in the dog. 4. The possibility of administration of antihistamine to inhibit cirrhosis is discussed.
