Reasons are given for the need for improving diagnostic methods for use in patients complaining of a vaginal discharge. An account is given of a simple method of microscopic examination of the vaginal discharge, using Wright's stain. The findings In various types of discharge are described. The procedure can easily be carried out during the consultation, so that treatment can be ordered in the light of a correct diagnosis which may not otherwise be so easily obtained.
