At the age of seven weeks an infant developed convulsions due to hypomagnesæmia with associated hypocalcæmia. The convulsions were not controlled by adequate calcium administration, but responded to magnesium therapy. The defect in magnesium metabolism in this case appears to be of the temporary variety and the infant is now making normal progress without treatment.
