The pedigrees of 157 male and 120 female tuberculosis patients were compiled and contrasted with a control group of 162 male and 128 female patients. From the list of relatives compiled, checks were made of mass survey, clinic and hospital records to establish the tuberculosis status of as many individuals as possible. It is concluded that there is a familial predisposition to tuberculosis. More work is required on the relative importance of inheritance, environment and infection.
