A case of chronic renal failure managed by isolated jejunal loop dialysis is presented. The technique of loop formation and perfusion is described. The procedure is simple and can be carried out at home by the subject. It is inexpensive, as it is possible to use simple apparatus, tap water, common salts and carbohydrates. It has presented very few problems in the case reported, probably because all the criteria for optimum case selection were present. Should the procedure fail to give sufficient control, hæmodialysis or transplantation can still be performed, and the intervals between hæmodialysis sessions can be prolonged by continuing with loop dialysis. Final evaluation must await further clinical and laboratory trial.
