The problem of diagnosis and management of fœtal dystocia associated with fœtal malformations is discussed. The incidence of this condition over a five‐year period at the Brisbane Women's Hospital, where there were 21,369 births, was 0.75 per 1,000 total births. The causes are further elaborated.
