Five cases are reported of severe phenytoin intoxication in childhood due to prescribing, dispensing and administration of the 100 mg/5 ml suspension in mistake for the 30 mg/5 ml pædiatric suspension. Increasing drowsiness and ataxia were the main clinical features and the pathogenesis of these sequelæ is discussed.
