Two hundred and eighty‐seven cases of rheumatic fever admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital over the period 1957–1967 have been analysed with regard to annual and seasonal incidence, age on admission, presenting symptoms, and clinical and laboratory findings. The incidence of the disease has been correlated with the estimated population at risk, over the period surveyed. The numbers of admissions for rheumatic fever and acute nephritis are compared, and it would seem that the specificity of the infecting organism varies from year to year. This survey has been an attempt to show the trends of the disease in Western Australia, as based on the case records of all children admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital with rheumatic fever between the years 1957 and 1967.
