Of course, it is possible that some degree of immunosuppression is produced before transplantation, because of the presence of ureemta not adequately controlled by hremodialysis. This may prevent sensitization by blood transfusions, and even further add to the likelihood of tolerance being produced to histocompatibility antigens. For this reason, the degree of urremia existing on the day of transplantation was examined, but no relationship between this and the early behaviour of the renal allograft was demonstrated.
