All our patients were discharged from hospital on the d~y after the procedure. None complained of pain or other dtscomrort. EIghteen of the patients have be.en in an entirely satisfactory condition over a period of observation varying from three months to two years. There has been no recurrence of symptoms and no discharge from the area and the sinus appears to have been completely obliterated: In two cases there was an inflammatory reaction around the sinus area, and a slough developed which was treated conservatively, and which healed completely with outpatient dressings in three to four weeks. We belteve that in both of these cases the phenol was inadvertently injected (by the use of too great a pressure) into the tissues surrounding the sinus. However, in both these cases since the initial wound has healed, there has be~n no further trouble, and both patients have a good result.
