Halsey's task force in the Pacific. Running short of dressings during a mission in enemy waters, and remembering Trueta's method of plaster of Paris treatment of compound and infected fractures, I applied plaster of Paris bandages to innumerable paronychia. infected sores, etc., among the crew required at battle stations throughout the mission. When examined a few days later, mission completed, after discarding the plaster of Paris dressing, I discovered to my surprise, the complete disappearance of infection.
