IN 1963, a group of 60 patients with clinically active. chronic duodenal ulcers resistant to medical management were treated by gastric hypothermia and studied from the standpoint of clinical, radiological and gastric secretory changes. The technique of gastric hypothermia used was essentially the same as that originally outlined by Wangansteen.
