It is in the very young group that a rapidly changing physiological situation demands a set of values for interpretation of results obtained in patients; but the difficulties in this group, particularly with air collection, are well known. The authors freely admit that the book does not contain a complete set of data; but the notable absence of figures for cardiac output in children once again draws attention to a deficiency which is a handicap in clinical medicine and research.
