frequency of eating such items between meals increased, a corresponding increase was noted in the number of D.E.F. teeth per child. The children who reported eating no items of this nature between meals the day prior to the health conference exhibited a D.E.F. of 3·3 teeth per child, in contrast to the children at the other end of the scale who reported eating four or more such items between meals, and exhibited a D.E.F. of 9·8 teeth per child.
