Post-Operative Transient Aldosteronism. J. LLAURADO AND M. WOODRUFF (Surgery, August, 1957) state that the changes in sodium and potassium metabolism commonly known to occur in patients submitted to surgical operations are associated with an increase in the daily urinary excretion of aldosterone, and they suggest that this phenomenon be called post-operative transient aldosteronism. They suggest that aldosterone is a principal factor responsible for the electrolyte disturbances which occur in the first few days after operation.
