Most patients with hereditary hremolytic diseaseare not anremic when the average life span of the red cells is greater than twenty days. They are anremic when it is less than fifteen days. When it is ten days the production of seventimes the normal amountof hremoglobin permits a moderateanremia. At five days or less there is severe anremia. In some hremolytic diseasesthe life spanof the red cells is reducedand the marrow is not capableof the maximum response. This is seenin perniciousanremia.
