This book forms a most welcome and useful addition to the well-known Edinburgh Medical Series of Messrs. A. & C. Black. It is admirably adapted for students and young practitioners as it is up-to-date, contains practical essentials, and avoids theoretical diffuseness. Neither does it aim at being a compendium for reference, nor does it attain brevity at the expense of being readable and interesting. The general arrangement in sections if not original is logical. The common mistake of wasting time on the introductory anatomy and physiology has been avoided, but all the salient points such as the correlation of the ovary with the other endocrine glands are emphasised. In section II the beginner is instructed in taking the history of and in examining his patient?a particularly necessary chapter for the Indian student. Then follows an interpretation of gynecological symptoms. Other clinical conditions are grouped under displacements, infection, extrauterine pregnancy and new growths.
