owing to the proximity of the gland. I may mention that, as the patient had refused to have his external carotid artery tied off, I was forced to make the subzygomatic incision. Since that time the patient has been completely free of any noises in the ear or in the head. On looking through the available literature I can find only one similar case of noises in the ear or head produced by aa aneurysm, and in that case the cause was a traumatic aneurysm of the external carotid in the neck. •
