Eskimo culture, archaeology and collections At the turn of this century, uncontrolled collecting of Eskimo objects by Europeans became a threat to the Greenlandic culture. «Damaging the Eskimo culture by spoiling heathen graves». That was the opinion expressed by members of the political board of South Greenland. A proposal was then made for building a museum which was realized more than half a century later.
