The paper is a synthetic overview of the issue of securing penalties and measures applicable inthe criminal proceedings on real estate. It takes into account the changes in the Code of CriminalProcedure introduced in 2017, significantly extending the possibility to impose confiscation, including the so-called extended confiscation, which had a considerable impact also on the numberand value of secured real estate. The article indicates the methods of securing penaltiesand criminal measures on real estate and points out complex issues related to the possibilityof securing certain types of confiscation on property of a person other than the perpetrator.
