The article presents results of the survey concerning the meaning of staffloyalty (the loyalty towards the employer) in the professional life of workingstudents of the University of Economics in Katowice. An independently preparedsurvey questionnaire was used. The article is utilitarian – twenty one workinghypotheses were verified. The results of empirical research were presented aseight main points: the notion of staff loyalty as perceived by student respondents,the importance of staff loyalty as compared to other types of loyalty, theself-assessment of loyalty towards the employing organisation, the assessmentof the respect shown by immediate superiors towards loyal employees, staffloyalty as a value appreciated both by employers and employees, the portfolio ofsatisfaction and loyalty evaluator, stability versus changeability in professionallife, the perceived effects of staff loyalty.
