Analysis of the edaphic conditions and properties of pure and cenopopulations of Festuca rubra and Festuca pratensis allowed to establish the competitivity of these two species on 4 different lithological substrates in the Sudetes Foothills. A model of competition between F. rubra and F. pratensis was constructed on the basis of the biomass of their populations. On a substrate of porphyry, sand and granite F. rubra prevails in competition while on basalt F. pratensi is preponderant
