The materiał collected during two consecutive years (1984, 1985) in a deciduous, forest dominated by beech on very fertile soil in the Beskid Niski mts. exhibited a number of characteristics allowing to distinguish the variety oedipus (Quel.) from the group Collybia dryophila (Buli. ex Fr.) Kummer and definitely recognize it as a separate species, Collybia oedipus (Qućl.) Metrod, Hołownia em. now
