The dominant representation of socially excluded children and adolescents in the press contributes to stigmatize them. This paper intends to analyze how the repetition of the word “underage” tends to reinforce the prejudice against the excluded youth in Brazil. This repetition indicates that the protection to socially excluded youth is a minor question in the social agenda. With the word repetition, the journalistic speech reinforces an excluding social structure that associates socially excluded youth with social menace
