This study compares two methodologies, one based on guided discovery and the other on the use of expositive techniques. The comparison was based on: the acquisition of skills and scientific knowledge and how long these skills and knowledge are maintained; the influence of initial scientific skills and knowledge in new acquisitions; the opinion of the students and professors on both methodologies. The results make evident the validity of both methods, even when the suitability of each one is postulated, depending on the type of level institution where it is applied.
