The paper describes the evolution of curriculum evaluation during the last three decades in order to identify external and internal pressures that affected research. The classical psychometric curriculum research evaluation is contrasted with naturalistic studies and the recent international projects evaluation. Changes in procedures and paradígms are strongly influenced by academic and professional institutions and funding agencies. Being aware of different sources of pressures researchers have more freedom to make options and take decisions about their work.
