The current urban-rural gap in China is caused by several factors and embodied in various respects. This paper analyzes the relevant factors from the perspective of capability, including income, education, health, employment opportunity and social security. Only by improving the capabiliity of the rural residents, can the problem of the ever-widening gap between urban and rural areas be really solved
