To test the hypothesis that fluid resuscitation with Ringer's solution enriched with pyruvate (PR), a physiological antioxidant and energy substrate, affords protection of myocardial metabolism and electrophysiological performance superior to lactated Ringer's (LR) during hypovolemia and hindlimb ischemia-reperfusion.
