The article deals with the issues that reveal the features of the legal regulation of the mediation procedure. The concept, goals, objectives of mediation, principles, introduction of mediation in civil and criminal proceedings, which contributes to the creation and development of the Republic of Kazakhstan effective mediation. Law enforcement practice shows that since the adoption of the Law "On mediation", this method of resolving legal disputes has been rapidly developing and increasingly perceived internationally as the universal method of dispute resolution. To date, practice has shown that mediation is mainly implemented in the settlement of private-legal conflicts, much less often it is used in the field of criminal proceedings.
