This article is devoted to the stages of formation and development of small business in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Today, this topic is very relevant, since at present the intensification of the development of commercial activity, as well as an increase in its role in the state economy, is one of the main tasks for improving the economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Entrepreneurial activity contributes to the flexibility of the market economy, attraction of investment resources, the development of technological progress, and, which is important at the moment, solves the problem of unemployment.
