The article examines the archetypal nature of labial consonants in the Turkic languages. In Turkology and Altaic studies, the correspondence of sounds is a well-studied problem. In the question of which of the labial consonants is an archetype, each scientist makes his own assumption. The purpose of this article is to generalize thoughts related to labial consonants and to link the development of labial consonants with speech ontogenesis.
