A complexidade semântica de um texto é verificada num ensaio jornalístico, cujo significado constrói-se não somente com “pistas” lingüísticas (pressupostos), mas com informações não-lingüísticas (subentendidos); portanto, os usuários da língua comunicam muito mais do que de fato escrevem. The semantic complexity of a text is shown in a newspaper essay, in which meaning is built up not only by means of linguistic “cues”, but also by non-linguistic information; therefore, language users mean much more than they actually write
