Created and edited since 1982 by the Centre National de la Photographie (CNP) in France, the Photo Poche collection became –though the publication of its more than 150 volumes – one of the most notorious editorial projects in the world. This article puts its creation in perspective to a large context of cultural policies dedicated to theartistic acknowledgement of photography, occurred in France during the socialist government of François Mitterrand, in the 80s.Criada e editada a partir de 1982 pelo Centre National de la Photographie (CNP) na França, a coleção Photo Poche se tornou – ao longo da publicação de seus mais de 150 volumes – um dos projetos editoriais em fotografia mais difundidos do mundo. Esse artigo contextualiza sua criação em relação à um amplo contexto de políticas culturais dedicadas ao reconhecimento artístico da fotografia, ocorrido na França durante o governo socialista de François Mitterrand, nos anos 80
