This article presents the results of a survey conducted at the University Hospital Onofre Lopes (HUOL), bound on the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), which aimed to analyze the understanding of users about the professional work the Social Workers in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with adults. The methodology was qualitative with no probabilistic intentional sample from twelve semi-structured interviews with six of the ICU patients and six visitors. The results show a strong relationship between education and the income, between the female and the care with the others and the perception of Social Work as a profession that should solve all user problems.
