The moment when an electronic component doesn’t work like requirements, previously established\udis a task that need to be considered since began of a system design. However, the use of different\udtechnologies, operating under several environmental conditions, makes a component choice a complex\udstep in system design. This paper analyzes the effects that ageing phenomenon of capacitors may\udintroduce in electronic devices operation. For this reason, reliability concepts, processes and mechanism\udof degradation are presented. Additionally, some mathematical models are presented to assist\udmaintenance activities or component replacement. The presented approach compares the operability of\udintact and aged components
