Experiments were conducted on the effect of electric current on the magnetographs A.C. produced no effect on the magnetographs even when a series of lamps were lit in the observatory room or the current was leaded to the ground close to the observatory with electrodes an opposite side of itsleadage of D.C. upto 5 amp, 220 v with electrodes 15’ apart at a distance of about 100 years or more from the magnetograph room did not oproduce any noticeable effect .
