The average monthly and annual rainfall of the Teesta basin have been worked out by isohyetal method based on 22 years (1960- 81) rainfall data; and the salient features of rainfall distribution over the basin are discussed. 53 rainstorms occurred during the period, of durations 1-day to 3-day have been analysed. It is observed that rainstorms are most frequent during the Month of July and are of I-day duration. For the period under study, the rainstorm of 3- 5 Oct 1968 has made maximum contribution of average depth of rainfall for 1, 2 and 3-day durations. The synoptic situations associated with the rainstorms are also discussed in detail.
