Effect of divergent wind on the kinetic energy budget over the monsoon region, during the period 4-9 July 1973 has been investigated. The contribution of divergent wind to energy budget terms has been presented and discussed separately. The results clearly demonstrate that the neglect of divergent wind may lead to sizeable errors in the evaluation of different budget terms.
