A low pressure area which intensified into a meso-soale depression and crossed Assam valley during 18 and 19 June 1968 has been described. Its surface and upper air structure, movement and associated synoptic situation have been discussed. Probable causes of its intensification, recurvature  and weakening afterwards have also been discussed.
