Rayleigh wave dispersion in range of periods of 5 to 15 seconds from a number of earthquakes has been studied for paths crossing the Gangetic basin. The results have been compared with theoretical models, mostly with a single layer. They indicate the variation of the depth of the low velocity sediments from one path to another within the basin.
