This paper explores industry-level, collective stakeholder action. It arguesthat industry stakeholders will act collectively at the industry level when theyperceive change to be radically in conflict with their shared beliefs. Althoughcollective action may not be in their immediate economic self-interests, this typeof industry level collaboration is undertaken with the long-term interest of thecollective industry in mind. The example of the Scotch whisky industry is used hereto illustrate such collaborative industry-level collective stakeholder action.
